The Sarah Jane Adventures prediction…
September 1, 2008
As you may have noticed, SJA series 1 is being repeated on Sundays, one two-parter at a time, ready for series 2. So, with this information, we can work out when the next series starts; they’ve already shown the first two-parter, so there’s four left- that means that in four Sundays, the series will begin. For this reason, I predict that the next series will begin on Monday 29th September. I may be wrong.
So… What Are Your Views On Toast?
August 19, 2008
Sorry, I haven’t been posting. I have been busy. Sort of. Well kinda. Anyway, I am now here and I’m blogging. I have opened a YouTube Channel, which currently displays a few animations. I am also going to be making live films but first I need to get a USB cord so I can get film from my phone to my laptop. I have two great, funny, random, great (Wait, did I say that one? Who cares?) films in production. I have written the script for the first one and I am working on the other one. They’re not connected, but they’ll be released at the same time. Anyway, to see my YouTube, click here.
It was my brother’s birthday today, so he had a sleepover with some friends. We made a pretty cool film, but it’s on my brother’s friend’s phone.
Tomorrow, I am camping out in my back garden. “Why?” I hear you ask. Because it’s fun. My little cousin is five and she is desperate to go camping, so we’re camping out in my tent with my brother. I think we’re going to watch a film. Maybe Hoodwinked- great film.
Okay, until then good bye.
Oh yeah, don’t forget to visit CGM Works!
Say NO to Age Banding!
August 6, 2008
Today I found out about terrible plans that could change the way children read forever. Some publishers are planning to put age certificates on books! I think this is terrible for the following reasons:
- Children will not read the books they love if they have a lower age certificate than their age group. Similarily, children that are more advanced readers will be restricted to books they find uniteresting.
- Children that sruggle with reading will feel discouraged from reading if they can not read the books in their age range.
- Every book and child is different- it’s impossible to put an age gap on it.
- A child’s imagination is the greatest thing in life and this imagination will be dimmed if children are not free to read the sort of books they want to.
- I myself am a child. I know what books I can, can’t, want to, don’t want to and like to read. I don’t want an ugly sticker on the front of my favourite books telling me I’m too young or too old to read it. I was reading Harry Potter at the age of seven and I still read the Spiderwick Chronicles, books that are below my reading capability.
Do not take this lying down. If you love reading as much as I do, then you will be just as shocked, disgusted and outraged at this restriction of reading, condemment of the imagination and dictation of the books we read.
Say NO! By going to the No To Age Banding website, you can see the official statement of protest, look at other supporters’ comments and sign the petition yourself. I have signed the petition against this terrible restriction and I am glad to see that so many of my favourite writers (J.K.Rowling, Philip Pullman, Diana Wynne Jones etc.) have signed it and are prepared to fight for our rights. Good on ya!
Some writers like Philip Pullman can refuse to have this system for their books, but some can’t. For the writers that can’t say no, please, please sign this petition.
Do it for everyone; readers, writers, illustrators, parents and the world.

My Dæmon
August 5, 2008
If you’re a fan of the His Dark Materials books or films, you’ll know that every person the story has their own dæmon, an animal companion that lives beside a person as the physical manifestation of their soul. While looking for a good HDM background today, I found out that you can take a quiz and be given your own dæmon. My dæmon is a crow called Aditi. To see your dæmon, go to www.goldencompassmovie.com and click on DÆMONS.
Sarah Jane Adventures Series 2 Coming Soon!
July 24, 2008
Popular childrens Doctor Who spin-off, The Sarah Jane Adventures has got a brand new series coming soon! A particular favourite of mine, SJA follows the adventures of former companion of the Doctor’s, Sarah Jane Smith, as she battle aliens and defends the Earth. She is helped on her adventures by her super-smart son Luke, and his friends Maria Jackson and Clyde Langer, as well as Mr. Smith, a high-tech super computer and K-9, a robot dog. The trailer for Series 2, coming Autumn 2008, is below:
What can we deduce from this? Well, we know that Sarah, Luke, Clyde and Maria are back with a new friend, a girl. With a bit of research on the Doctor Who Wiki, I learnt that she is a character called Rani Chandra. But can we trust the Internet. Yes. In an article in my issue 398 of Doctor Who Magazine (DWM), Phil Ford, who is a writer for SJA confirms that a character called Rani will be in this series. I don’t really know if another character is necassary, but I’m sure the SJA team will make it work. But Rani should get any fans of classic Doctor Who’s brains working. The Sixth and Seventh Doctors faced a renegade Time Lady called the Rani- is she connected to this new character?
Another thing we can deduce from this episode is that sontarans will be in a story. From the Doctor Who Wiki (DWW), it seems that they will be an episode called “The Last Sontaran”. Is this sontaran the only one that survived the destruction of the Tenth Sontaran Battle Fleet in The Poison Sky (DW4.5)? DWW also states that this episode will feature Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, head of UNIT in the days of the classic series. “The Brig” has met the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Doctors and has helped him to defeat the Cybermen, Omega and other recurring villains. He is considered by many to be a companion of the Doctor’s, although he has never actually travelled with the Doctor in the TARDIS. Anyway, enough of his life story, the Brig is, according to DWW, in The Last Sontaran, which is, according to DWW, the first episode of Series 2. However, I beg to differ! My issue of DWM seems to say that the Brigadier will be in the finale- facing some old foes. These old foes could be the sontarans, so perhaps The Last Sontaran is, in fact, the finale of SJA? Or maybe the Brig will appear in more than one story? Only time and space will tell…
We can also learn about some of the other monsters that will be featured in Series 2. The trailer shows a graske, which has appeared in SJA before (SJA1.7&8). We also see a freaky clown, presumably the monster in Day of the Clown, episode 2 of series 2. We also see a man covered in weird blue veins, which is surely a monster and a man in a white suit, who could be a villain.
I was intruiged to find out more about Series 2, so I searched for spoilers on YouTube. I found pictures of Samantha Bond, who played Mrs. Wormwood, the villain in Invaison of the Bane (SJA1.X). Whether she will play the same character remains to be seen, but DWW claim she will reprise her role as Mrs. Wormwood and be an ally of the sontarans.
One thing’s for sure… this series is going to be a blast! Since it is coming out in “Autumn”, I expect it come out sometime in September. Hopefully. Probabally. I can’t wait!
DWM 398: Doctor Who Magazine Issue #398 came out yesterday and I got a copy today. This issue is available in four different covers, which together feature all twenty of the principal cast members in the Series 4 finale. You can collect these and when you put them together in a line, they join up to form one big picture- how cool! I got the cover with the Doctor, Donna, Sylvia and Wilf. It’s also got Harriet Jones at the top. Inside, Russel T. Davie discusses how the Doctor Who team re-acted at the news of his departure and what sort of precautions he has to make so he doesn’t ruin the Moff’s plans in Production Notes. There’s an interview with David Tennant, Billie Piper, Freema Ageyman, Catherine Tate, John Barrowman, Gareth David-Lloyd, Eve Myles, Penelope Wilton, Jaqueline King (I’ve met her- got her autograph!), Bernard Cribbins, Noel Clarke, Camille Coduri, Adjoah Andoh, Elizabeth Sladen, Tommy Knight, John Leeson, Alexander Armstrong, Nicholas Briggs, Julian Bleach and David Tennant again who play or are the voice of, respectivley, The Doctor, Donna, Martha, Rose, Jack, Ianto, Gwen, Harriet, Sylvia, Wilf, Mickey, Jackie, Francine (that’s Martha’s mum), Sarah-Jane, Luke, K-9, Mr. Smith, Dalek Caan, Davros and Doctor #2. Longest sentance ever? I think so. The magazine also has news on the Christmas special, the Proms Cutaway and the Brig’s return. It also concludes the sycorax comic, The Widow’s Curse, and has a survey on Series 4 of Doctor Who. Anyone that does this survey and votes for the best bits of Series 4, is in with the chance of winning a prize, as three voters will be chosen and recieve a free “Davros” DVD boxset, which has five stories featuring Davros and various Doctors. I will definatly fill this out!
Finally… I will now be posting about Doctor Who news and will do a review of DWM magazine every month when a new issue comes out. I will also do news abotu SJA and Torchwood, the latter being a programme my parents won’t let me watch- but I am trying to convince them to let me watch it.
Good night, readers*
*Although I doubt anyone actually bothered to read all 976 words in this post.
Sports Day
July 22, 2008
Today my school had its sports day. A few weeks ago when it came to choosing who was doing what event, I volunteered to do the 400 metre race for my form (class). I like running. It wasn’t until the day that I actually realised I was probabally going to loose the race in front of every kid and teacher in Years 7, 8 and 9. Everyone in my form said they didn’t care if I lost, but I was still worried about the other kids in the year.
The time came for my race and me, along with the other seven people in the Year 8 race got ready. I was pretty sure I’d loose, even then. The race began. I ran and ran and ran. I could hear my form cheering me on and the muffled commentary by my deputy head. I kept looking behind, only one kid was behind me- but he was catching up. I sprinted to the finish line and came in seventh- not bad, it’s better than last. I did the 400 metres in 1:32 which is faster than my previous personal best of 1:44, so at least I beat myself by 12 seconds.
When I went back to join my form they were all saying “Well Done!” and all that. I realised then I have actually got a really nice form and form tutor. We all stick togetehr and support each other. Really, now is the best time of my life. I’ve got a great family, great great friends and a brilliant school. So treasure these days. Think about how good your life is.
More Stuff: We had a week of days out last week at school. We went to the South Bank of the Thames in London, where all the street performers make their name. Tyler put his cap, Captain Johnathon III, on the floor and he began to dance. I did this thing where I put my hands under my legs and stand on them. Someone gave us two quid, thinking we were a real street act. We got more money later and ended up £2:60 richer!
The Two Ronnies
July 19, 2008
Last night, me and my family were watching Would I Lie To You?, a good quiz show where Lee Mack and David Mitchell lead teams competing in a quiz show where they must determine what is a lie and what is fact. Anyway, after that the Two Ronnies came on. It was two comedians, Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker showing us some of their favourite sketches from when they were on TV in the 70s and 80s. Their skectches were really funny, so I decided to look them up on YouTube. I have here a sketch I like, so watch it yourself and tell me what you think.
Lunar is the new Solar!
July 19, 2008
Ladies and gentleman, I give you LUNAR POWER! Forget solar power- the answer to the environment’s problems is lunar power! Using carefully placed panels placed on the side of your house, we can power the whole household! When light is reflected from the moon from the Sun, it carries microscopic cheese-atoms. These cheese atoms can then be expanded until they form a huge blob of energy. This energy is then passed around the house! It’s genius!
Iron Lady Gets State Funeral!
July 16, 2008
Margret Thatcher, the former British prime minister famous for being one of the most disliked women in history, has been given the right to have a state furneral when she dies. This means that tax payers will pay for her funeral. In fact, they’ll pay 3 million pounds for her funeral. Surely there are better causes for this money to go towards. Margret Thatcher hasn’t really done anything that deserves 3 million pounds. If anyone deserves a 3 million pound funeral, it’s the people who have lost their lives in Iraq, fighting for our countury. It just winds me up so much when there’s so much money in the world that is used for all the wrong reasons! I mean that 3 million should be used to help kids in Africa or save the environment, not give Margret Thatcher a funeral! If she must have such a costly funeral, get her succeeding Conservatives to pay for it!
In other news: I will reguarly be posted my opinions on things in the news from now on, but don’t worry, I’ll still be posting random stuff, too. Infact, me and Tyler are working on something now…
Welcome to the Edge!
July 15, 2008
Hello and welcome to the Edge of Night, a bloggish blob of random ideas and irellevant thoughts. Here anarchy is the only principal of society and order is frowned upon. Any rules and regulations are automatically shot with the Rule-Rumbler 4000. If you believe in order, then I will have my chaos armies throw mustard on you!
Here I will post random ideas and thoughts. I will also reguarly post posts moaning about current affairs and the world around me. I hope you will take the time to read these moans, but if you don’t then I will not do anything- my chaos army is having a day off today.
Now let the anarchy begin!
